Vizio Have Come A Long Way On Quality And Now Offer A Superb Price To Features and Quality TV

Well, well, well, I just got the bestselling LED TV sales figures in for the U.S for August and it’s very interesting to see what has been happening. So, what was the bestselling LED TV set in August?

Actually that’s probably not the right question. The question should be broader than that! Let’s make the question…What were the top five bestselling LED TV sets in Amercia in August 2011.

Bestselling LED TV Market Trends

Before I reveal those bestsellers, I am going to give myself a huge pat on the back for spotting a trend in the market. If you read my reviews regularly, you’ll know that I have been waxing lyrical about the strides being made by the likes of LG and Vizio. I’ve also been quite forceful in suggesting these Guys are catching up as far as LED TV technology is concerned. Certainly Vizio and LG both offer technically solid LED and 3D TV sets, but…they also offer great features.

LG First With Integral WiFi

For example LG were the first to offer integral wi-fi. They were also the fist to bring out the Cinema 3D TV sets that use the polarized 3D glasses as opposed to the more expensive active shutter glasses. Vizio were at the forefront of TV apps…and both Vizio and LG offer a definite price advantage over the likes of Sony and Samsung.

With the difference in actual image performance being right at the very margin (in fact barely discernible unless you are an absolute expert), it’s not surprising that the top five bestselling 3D and LED TV sets in August 2011 were all either LG or Vizio.

This is a quantum shift in the market! If I were Sony, or Samsung, I’d be very afraid.

Is The Economy The Reason?

What is the root of this shift? Well with the economic news of the last few months and the very real prospect of a double dip recession, I think people now want value for money if they are going to invest in a new TV. I also think people are fed up with the compromise of not upgrading
and American man wants his football in HD or 3D so he’s upgrading, but…he is not prepared to pay the price for the big ticket items. So, the compromise is made on the brand and perhaps size of the LED TV in which he is investing. Hence the top 5 bestselling LED and 3D TV sets in August are all non-major brand names.

With the new football season just under way and the festive season beginning to rear it’s head, America wants to spend on goodies, but doesn’t want to spend the many thousands of dollars needed to buy a top of the range Samsung for example. So, the compromise has pushed business to the second tier players of Vizio and LG who offer a great price to performance to features ratio – Q.E.D

So, here are the top five bestselling 3D or LED TV sets for August 2011 across the U.S.

LG Infinia 42LV5500 42 Inch LED TV

Great value for money and certainly one of the bestsellers through Planet LED TV.

Internet AppsSmart TV with intuitive screen menu system that is easy to use and set up. Add to that a superb picture and you have a great value for money LED TV.

Vizio XVT323SV 32 Inch LED TV

It’s really no surprise to me to see Vizio gatecrashing the LED TV party. Whilst this isn’t a big screen TV, it’s perfect for the smaller viewing area. We haven’t reviewed thgis specific TV but the XVT series is a great value for money range.

We have reviewed the 47 inch version and the 55 inch 3D version and as I have said above there is no doubt Vizio are now a serious player in the LED and 3D TV market. This set is not 3D but it does boast an impressive aray of Internet Apps.

And…at under $500 you really cvannot complain at getting a full 1080p LED TV with a superb picture!

Vizio M221NV 22 Inch LED TV

Vizio again and this wonderful little 22 inch LED TV offers full 1080p LED HD which produces a stunning image on such a small TV.

I reckon this is in the top five due to the new college year with lots of new students making their way to their first semester at college with a Vizio M221NV under their arms! Perfect for a college dorm or the kids bedroom, or even in the kitchen this LED TV is just brilliant for the role it fulfils.

Again with Internet Apps the TV is even better suited to college life as an education aid – all for well under $250 – an absolute bargain.

LG Infinia 55LV5500

Another great value bestselling LED TV from LG. In my book LG can’t do any wrong. At circa $2k you get a superb 120Hz full 1080p HD screen with crystal clear image, brilliant colors and deep contrasts. This really is a great TV for action movies and sports which is why I think it’s done so well at this time of year.

If you buy a frontline brand comparison you’ll be in for at least another $1,000 and go for the latest ranges add another $2-2,500, so you can see why this is selling so well.

The LG55LV5500 also benefits from the unique on scre, highly intuitive menu system and special remote. Full internet Apps offer all sorts of online content making this a complete entertainment centre.

Vizio XVT3D474SV 3D TV

Again, I was just so impressed by this HD TV when I took a look. Indeed it was this set that first alerted me to the progress Vizio were making in the LED TV and 3D TV market.

This is a full 1080p LED TV with 480Hz processor, smart 3D TV with Internet Apps and ocal dimming which all combine to offer you stunning value at under $1,000 if you shop around. Amazing value for money.
