As LED TVs become more popular and new models hit the streets the price is bound to come down. Whilst LG has always been driven by price to some degree there is also quality in an LG LED TV and the LG 47SL90 LED TV is no exception.
The viewing experience is outstanding compared to the price although there is some downside on connectivity and added extras.
One of the things I had noticed (and this was a problem on my first LG Plasma) is screen reflection and I am delighetd to report that this LG has cured that problem. This certainly helps enhance the viewing experience (I had to block off a window with a very dark curtain previously). So plaudits to LG for this.

The bottom line is though, that this LED TV provides excellent picture quality. The color contrast is brilliant with rich, bright colors and very deep dark blacks.
It’s full LED crytsal to that sharpness of picture is definitely there even though the motion setting is 120Hz as opposed to 240. But, to be fair you’re not going to get 240Hz if you’re delving into the mid price range, you do still get full 1080p HD. In my opinion you do have to look pretty hard to see any difference. There is, though, definitely a big picture advantage over traditional Plasma and LCDs though and that IS noticeable. There is also very definitely an improvement when watching sport or action movies on the LG 47SL90 LED TV.
So, what’s it like to watch?
Well, in the shop I got the demo in they had Nemo on Blu Ray and we used that for a test watch. Whilst the picture wasn’t as good as what I have at home (which is a 240Hz), the colors were certainly bright and vibrant. The contrast with the deep rich blacks was also very, very good. I guess Nemo is probably one of the best movies to show off the benefits of a LED TV with all those wonderful tropical fish and coral colors. But nonetheless this LG LED TV 46 put on a good show, a very good show.
One thing to be aware of, there is not the same level of connectivity you would get with a major front line LED TV like, say a Samsung B series, but we are in the mid price range here! It’s horses for courses and if you just want to watch brilliant TV pictures, this LG LED TV price wise stacks up big time.
LG LED TV Prices
Overall this is a very good mid to lower range LED TV, LG LED TV prices have always been competitive. One thing you need to be aware of is that the alternate on/off switch is hidden and very difficult to find! If I’d got the set home and didn’t know about this it would have been a minor irritation but the sales Guy in the store pointed it out. Bottom line, if you’re looking for a lower to midrange LG LED TV the LG 47SL90 really is a great value buy that offers quality viewing.
